The Yangtze Business Network 2009: The Logistics Challenges of Accessing China’s Interior
15 April 2009 at the Regal International East Asia Hotel in Shanghai

Overview
Cost cutting is a priority for manufacturers in the current worldwide economic downtown. Low production costs in China’s vast interior only look attractive for manufacturers if they can solve the logistical challenges. The Yangtze Business Network 2009 is the only platform where you can hear what the central and local governments are doing to help manufacturers reduce transport cost. It is also the ideal venue to exchange ideas with FIEs already operating in the interior and make meaningful contacts with decision-makers from most of the 24 major port cities along the Yangtze.

The Yangtze Business Network 2009 will explore the opportunities and challenges facing investors in cities far removed from the coastal ports. Manufacturers will explore whether the costs savings outweigh the logistical shortcomings. Supply chain professionals will look at the best options to transport goods in a timely and cost efficient way at a time of high fuel costs. And Chinese port and transport officials will be there to chart the improvements being made to transport infrastructure and the investment incentives available to foreign investors.

Conference format
The Yangtze Business Network 2009 is a one-day event that will comprise two parts. Chinese and Western speakers will make presentations in the morning and early afternoon sessions. This will be followed by a matchmaking session, involving a series of pre-scheduled meetings between Western investors and Chinese officials from the Ministry of Communications and the major Yangtze ports and investment zones.
