Construction of the Yunnan-Asean International Cold Chain Logistics Centre is to begin next month in the Yunnan provincial capital of Kunming, reported Logistics Week. The facility is designed to offer cold chain logistics services for agricultural produce traded between Yunnan and Asean countries. When completed in November 2010, it will become the largest facility of its kind in southwestern China.
The Rmb600m project will have a storage capacity of 100,000 tonnes and cover 13 hectares.
Yunnan province is an important producer of fruit and vegetables, coffee, fresh cut flowers and tea.
