The Jiangsu port of Taicang near the mouth of the Yangtze River has launched a fourth Japan service that will call at Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya. It is operated by Chongqing Marine Shipping, reported Xinhua.
The weekly service, deploying two 670 TEU vessels, departs from Taicang on Fridays and returns on Thursdays.
Taicang’s first service to Japan was launched by Shanghai Shimonoseki Ferry in September 2006; it has been followed by a service operated by Cosco Ningbo and then two by Chongqing Marine Shipping. The port’s throughput for its Japan services totalled more than 5,900 TEU in the first quarter of this year.
