Wuhan’s Human Resources and Social Security Bureau issued a public announcement before the May Day holiday stating that anyone asked to work during the three-day public holiday should be paid three times the worker’s normal daily rate or at least Rmb288, whichever is greater.

Employers are not allowed to avoid making the payment by offering replacement holidays instead.
