Air services have begun between Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, and Amsterdam. Operated by Air France-KLM, the first flight from Hangzhou departed on 8 May and arrived on time in Amsterdam 11 hours and 35 minutes later.
Initially, the service will operate three times a week. Flights from Hangzhou depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with return flights departing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Meanwhile, American Airlines will start a non-stop service between Chicago and Beijing on 25 May.
Daily departures from both cities will begin on 3 July.
The route was initially scheduled to begin on 26 April, but American complained that the takeoff and landing times granted by China were not favourable to the airline.
