China Meteorological Administration has set up a station in Wuhan to provide a special forecast for the Yangtze valley region. The trial forecast service started on 1 May and covers a wide range of information such as fog, tides, and the volume and frequency of rainfall. Among the first batch of recipients of the email service are officials in charge of anti-flood operations across the Yangtze.
The station was set up in December 2009. Trial services will be expanded by the end of 2010 to help all stakeholders in the river improve their ability to cope with changing weather conditions. It will take three years to fully establish the station. | |
