Shanghai International Port Group, the operator of Shanghai port, increased its cargo throughput by 17.5 per cent year-on-year to 35.53m tonnes in April, China Knowledge Press reported. Container throughput increased 21 per cent to 2.37m TEU last month.

In 2009 SIPG’s cargo throughput fell 1.1 per cent year-on-year to 365m tonnes, while its container throughput dropped 10.7 per cent to 25m TEU.
