PetroChina said it plans to complete construction of China’s largest liquefied natural gas wharf in Dalian, Liaoning province, by the end of 2010. Parent company China National Petroleum Corp, the largest oil and gas producer and supplier in the country, said that the wharf will have a total capacity of 267,000 tonnes.
The wharf is part of PetroChina’s new LNG terminal in Dalian, which is expected to be put into operation in 2011. The Rmb10bn terminal will be able to supply 5bn cubic metres of natural gas upon completion of the first phase, and double this volume after phase two.
PetroChina holds a 75 per cent stake in the terminal, with Dalian Port Co owning 20 per cent and Dalian Construction Investment the remaining 5 per cent.
