The Yunyang-Wushan expressway in Chongqing municipality will be opened to traffic on 20 September, 10 months ahead of schedule, according to a local government website.
The 209km-long road, involving an investment of Rmb17.1bn, is the last section in Chongqing of the Chongqing-Yichang expressway. Bridges and tunnels account for 65 per cent of its length. The travel time from Wushan, located in the northeast of Chongqing municipality, to downtown Chongqing will be halved to four hours when the expressway opens.
