An official investigation in China has discovered that more than 200 pilots lied about their qualifications or employment history, reported Aircargo News. Half of this number work for Henan Airlines, a subsidiary company of Shenzhen Airlines, which suffered a crash in August that killed 42 passengers.
The discovery was the result of a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) investigation last year, the findings of which have only recently been released. The administration subsequently grounded the pilots who then had to go through re-examinations and re-assessment.
The CAAC is now investigating other parts of the industry, including air traffic control and training professionals. | |
