Statistics from the Yangtze River Administration show that throughput of general cargo on the Yangtze trunkline increased by 15.2 per cent year-on-year in September to 120m tons, while container throughput rose nearly 20 per cent to 820,000 TEU.
For the first nine months of 2010, cargo throughput rose by 23.9 per cent to just over 1bn tons while container throughput stood at 6.63m TEU, up 29.1 per cent.
