China-based Orient International Logistics has officially opened a logistics centre in Shanghai’s Yangshan deepwater terminal following a four-month trial period. The first phase of the centre, involving an investment of Rmb100m, contains a 16,000 sq metre warehouse that can hold 2,400 TEU. The completion of phase two will increase handling capacity to 5,000 TEU a month.
Orient International now has four logistics centres in Shanghai, which can handle around 400,000 TEU annually. The new centre warehouses and packages cargo from domestic customers, mainly textiles, machinery parts and handicrafts destined for Europe and the US.
