Statistics from the Yangtze River Administration show that the throughput of general cargo at the major ports on the Yangtze trunkline jumped by 14.4 per cent year-on-year in October 2010 to 118m tons, while that of containers rose by 27 per cent to 820,000 TEU.
Between January and October, throughput of general cargo rose by 22.4 per cent to 1.1bn tons, while that of containers was up 28.7 per cent to 7.4m TEU.
