ArvinMeritor, the US-based automobile component maker, has started to build a new R&D centre and manufacturing plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.

The R&D centre will specialise in engine and braking products for commercial trucks, trailers and other special vehicles.

At present, ArvinMeritor has three production bases in China, one in Shiyan, Hubei province, and the others in the Jiangsu cities of Xuzhou and Wuxi.
