China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China’s largest oil and gas producer, is to invest Rmb11.6bn on constructing a gas storage base in Chongqing municipality. A government source told Xinhua that the project would be put into operation at the end of June 2012.

The base is located in Beibei, a satellite town to the north of Chongqing, and has a designed total capacity of 4.05bn cubic meters.
