The US-based Johnson Controls is to establish an auto battery production base in Lidu New Zone in Fuling, Chongqing municipality, according to a local government website. The base will be put into production in three years and is expected to have an annual output of 6m batteries.
The Rmb122m plant will be Johnson Controls’ third in China, the others being in Shanghai.
The company was attracted by growing demand for auto batteries in Chongqing, said Yang Shuqing, general manager of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific, while convenient transportation by water, railway and expressway were Fuling’s major advantages.
