Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration officials in Jiangsu province said on 6 December that nearly 100 vessels including more than 20 ocean liners were forced to anchor due to strong winds in the Jiangyin section of the Yangtze River. The weather forecast was predicting gale force and storm force winds for 6 and 7 December.

Jiangyin MSA assembled five ocean patrols, 14 tugs and a number of rescue boats on standby round-the-clock for emergency response.
