China’s new ship orders increased 2.9-fold to 75.23m DWT in 2010, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The country’s output of completed ships surged 55 per cent year-on-year to 65.6m DWT.

The total of outstanding orders stood at 195.9m DWT at the end of last year, of which 85 per cent were for export.
