The New World Alliance is to cut capacity on transpacific services during next month’s Spring Festival, reported IFW. The alliance is made up of APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mitsui OSK Lines.
The reduction in capacity is a routine response to the holiday period, when factory closures lead to a sharp downturn in Asian exports. Alliance members said the closures this year are expected to be longer than usual, perhaps up to three or four weeks.
