Chongqing has set a 2011 GDP growth target of 13.5 per cent, higher than any other province or municipality in China.
Inland China has been growing at a faster rate than coastal areas in recent times. Shanghai’s economic growth rate, for example, has been slower than the national average for the past three years. In 2009 it was 9.9 per cent, compared with 10.3 per cent for the whole country.
