Tianjin port in north China aims to double its container-handling capacity to 20m TEU by 2015, making it one of the world’s top five container ports, reported China Economic Review.

Yu Rumin, chairman and senior engineer of Tianjin Port (Group), said the central government’s 2010 policies to develop the port area would help in meeting this goal. The policies include tax reductions for ocean-going ships that use Tianjin port and the creation of a free-trade zone in Binhai New District, the port area.
