In an interview with South China Morning Post, the Asia-Pacific chief executive of Agility Logistics, Hans Hickler, predicted continued good growth in China this year.
One reason for his optimism is the company’s chemicals logistics hub in Shanghai, which opened last year and will import and distribute 600,000 tonnes of polyolefins annually from Abu Dhabi. The polymer resins will be used to manufacture pipes, cabling, vehicle parts and household appliances in China and elsewhere in Asia. A polymer compound manufacturing plant has been built next to the logistics facility.
Hickler went on to say that Agility had seen "fairly strong" growth in volumes in both air and sea-freight volumes. However, rising fuel prices has led to a certain shift in cargo from purely air transport to a combination of sea and air from China through Dubai to Europe.
