Jiangsu province’s foreign trade value increased 33.9 per cent year-on-year to US$43.61bn in January 2011, according to local Customs statistics. However, this represented a decrease of 1.6 per cent over the previous month.

Exports increased 29.8 per cent year-on-year to US$24.47bn in January, with exports of ships rising 55 per cent to US$1.11bn and exports of steel products up 47 per cent to US$580m. Jiangsu’s imports rose 39.7 per cent to US$19.14bn.
