Nantong Maritime Safety Authorities have issued a new regulation that stipulates that booms must be laid for handling 69 types of bulk liquid dangerous cargo. They include eight categories of bulk liquid: clear petroleum products, animal and plant oil, benzene and its derivatives, alkyl(ene) hydrocarbons, alcohols and ethers.
There are 24 dangerous cargo terminals in Nantong, Jiangsu province − 18 for liquids, five for solids and one for containers, handling 103 types between them. The total throughput of dangerous cargo in Nantong hit a record of 18.18m tons in 2010.
