The throughput of dangerous cargo at Jiangyin port in Jiangsu province has increased significantly over recent years, said Jiangyin Maritime Safety Authorities. In 2009 it totalled 12.2m tons, accounting for 10 per cent of the entire general cargo throughput. In 2010 DG throughput reached 14.17m tons, accounting for 14 per cent of total cargo throughput.

Jiangyin MSA is in charge of 10 DG terminal operators with a total of 12 terminals. Nine of these terminals are for chemicals, most of them located in the west of the city, while the three in the east are for petroleum products. Between them, they handle 132 different types of products.
