Container throughput at Nanjing Longtan terminal reached 1.4m TEU last year and is expected to grow to 3m TEU by 2015, according to Nanjing Maritime Safety Authorities. Throughput of general cargo reached 16m tons and is set to grow to 50m tons by 2015.

According to Nanjing port’s blueprint, Longtan terminal’s 8.3km shoreline is divided into three areas for bulk, containers and breakbulk. It is being developed in seven phases, five of which have already been completed. The sixth and seventh phases are about to start construction.
