Two Sino-Japanese car-making joint ventures in Wuhan could be affected from next month in the aftermath of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. For the time being, however, Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Honda are operating normally, reported People’s Daily.
Some vehicle component and chip imports from Japan will be temporarily suspended, affecting the supply chain of some enterprises in Wuhan, according to the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Commerce.
Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle said future production of the Dongfeng Nissan might be impacted because several Nissan suppliers were badly damaged by the earthquake and power is in short supply in Japan.
Some of Dongfeng Honda’s components are imported from Japan. While inventory levels should guarantee normal production operations for March, the situation in April is still uncertain. | |
