Shanghai is building a fourth and fifth runway at Pudong International Airport, reported Shanghai Daily. Both runways are expected to be finished before 2015, said Wang Xiaohong, an official with the Shanghai Airport Technology Center, which has been established to provide technological support on future airport design, planning and construction projects.
The airport handles more than 40m passengers a year, with volumes expected to double by 2015.
A third terminal may also be built to handle the rising number of air travellers, said the newspaper.
