Donggang port area in Chongqing, which is being built by Shanghai International Port Group, has started operation with an annual capacity of 200,000-250,000 TEU.

The first phase has two 5,000-tonne multi-purpose berths, one ro-ro berth and an area of 488,000 sq metres. It has involved an investment of Rmb900m. Once all three phases have been completed, the terminal will comprise 11 berths with an annual capacity of 1.3m TEU.

A 19km road is being built to link the terminal to the local highway network and to Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
