The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway began a one-month trial operation on 11 May, according to the Ministry of Railways.
The 1,318km-long line will cut travel time between China’s two major cities to about five hours. It is scheduled to go into commercial service at the end of June, the ministry said.
Fault simulations and emergency drills will be carried out during the one-month trial.
Trains on the line will run at two speeds, 300kph and 250kph, with different ticket prices depending on the speed of the train. The line will use 90 pairs of bullet trains after it goes into service.
