Under the guidance of a senior pilot from the Yangtze Piloting Centre, Hong Kong-registered Rosco Banyan became the largest vessel ever to arrive at Zhenjiang port on 30 May. The 74,967dwt ocean-going vessel, 225 metres long and with a draught of 10.5 metres, was carrying 48,000 tons of soy beans. It was a particularly remarkable navigational feat considering the current severe drought being experienced along the Yangtze.
Zhenjiang is an important commercial and transportation centre located in the southwest of Jiangsu province.
