The Chinese authorities have unveiled ticket prices for the high-speed rail link between Beijing and Shanghai, due to be launched later this month.
One-way tickets for the 1,318km trip are to cost between Rmb410 and Rmb1,750, deputy railways minister Hu Yadong said. Ninety pairs of trains will run daily.
The Rmb221bn high-speed line will almost halve the travel time between the two cities to four hours and 45 minutes at its top speed. A flight between the cities takes about two hours and costs around Rmb1,300, although big discounts are often available.
