22 June 2011
The design for the world’s third tallest building has been revealed in Wuhan, Hubei province.

The Wuhan Greenland Center, developed by the Shanghai-based Greenland Group and designed by the US-based Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture, will take five years to build and stand 606 metres tall.
The tower features a streamlined form with a tapered body, rounded corners and a domed top.

The 119-storey building will comprise about 300,000 sq metres of floor area, made up of 200,000 sq metres of offices, 50,000 sq metres of luxury apartments, a 45,000 sq metre five-star hotel, and a 5,000 sq metre private club.

The skyscraper is part of a planned commercial area that will cover 3m sq metres and cost about Rmb30bn to build.
