The port of Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province recently accommodated its largest ever foreign cargo ship.

The Panama-registered 94,400-tonne bulk carrier Welview vessel is 246 metres long and 42 metres wide, and has a draught of 13.3 metres. It was carrying 34,000 tonnes of iron ore from Ningbo’s Beilun port area, according to a Xinhua report.

Zhenjiang is an important commercial and transportation centre located in the southwest of Jiangsu province. Zhenjiang Port Group, the city’s main common-user terminal operator, is undertaking one of the largest expansion programmes across the entire length of the Yangtze River.
