China’s rail cargo transportation volume averaged 10.67m tonnes a day in June, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.6 per cent, according to the Ministry of Railways.
The fastest growth rate in the country was reported in Xian, capital of Shaanxi province, which experienced a rail cargo transportation volume increase of 25.8 per cent. Volumes in Beijing, Taiyuan, Jinan, Nanchang, Guangzhou, Nanning and Lanzhou all recorded double-digit growth rates in June.
Over the first half of the year, China's railways transported more than 1.94bn tonnes of goods, up 8 per cent on the previous year. The amount of coal transported rose 13.2 per cent to 1.11bn tonnes.
