The Yangtze Maritime Safety Authorities issued a circular on 29 August saying that operations have returned to normal following the completion of maintenance work on the No.1 shiplock of the Gezhouba Dam. This also means that vessels passing the dam no longer need to apply for separate permits.

The circular also warns all shipping lines to continue taking special precautions in the current hot weather and flooding season.
