Wuhan government officials have vowed to speed up investment in infrastructure to turn Yangluo terminal into the shipping centre of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River by 2015. This involves completing five major expressway projects, including one leading to the airport, and a rail project.

Apart from improving Yangluo’s intermodal capability, the local government will focus on the construction of Yangluo Bonded Logistics Park, with the intention of attracting procurement and distribution businesses of multinational companies and the operations of major shipping lines and logistics providers.

The second phase of Yangluo will be completed by the end of this year, by which time the terminal will have a handling capacity of 1m TEU. Vessels of up to 5,000 dwt can be accommodated.
