Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific is launching a scheduled freighter service between the SAR and Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province. The twice-weekly service calling at Shanghai started on 12 October.
“It is estimated that by the end of 2011, one out of five of the world’s computers will be made in Chengdu,” said Cathay Pacific director Cargo Nick Rhodes.
The airline, which currently operates 16 scheduled freighter flights to Shanghai each week, started a twice-weekly freighter service between Hong Kong and Chongqing on 9 August.
