Japan’s Nippon Steel has announced a 50-50 tin plate joint venture with Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp.

The Rmb1.85bn plant is expected to start operation in the summer of 2013. The plate will be used to make food and drinks cans, as well as for containers for products such as paint, oil and medicine.
