On 18 November, a ceremony was held in Luzhou container port to mark the first train service from its container yard. Luzhou has become the first container port along the Yangtze to boast a dedicated rail track offering a rail-water intermodal service. The port has a current handling capacity of 500,000 TEU.

Luzhou is located in the southeast of Sichuan province and is the most westerly of the major Yangtze River ports.
