Anhui province plans to spend Rmb27bn-30bn on transportation infrastructure construction in 2012, according to a conference held by the provincial transport authorities.

Work is due to start this year on two more bridges crossing the Yangtze River – the Second Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhu and the Yangtze River Highway Bridge in Chizhou.

Trans-provincial roads are another focus, and work will be stepped up on the Langxi section of Liyang (Jiangsu province)-Guangde expressway and the Lixin-Zongyang section of the Jining (Shandong province)-Qimen expressway. Projects expected to be completed by the end of the year include the Bengbu-Huainan expressway and the expressway linking Xinqiao Airport to downtown Hefei.
