SI Group, the US-based manufacturer of chemical intermediates, is to construct a US$30m phenolic resin production facility in Nanjing.

The facility will have an initial production capacity of 30,000 tonnes of phenolic resin a year, rising to 70,000 tonnes in future. Located in Nanjing Chemical Industry Park, the plant is expected to begin production in May 2013.

The resins will be used in the refractory, impregnation, friction, abrasive and rubber sectors.
