Finnair is to launch direct services between Helsinki and Chongqing from May, according to municipal tourism authorities.

There will be four flights every week that will be served by Airbus A340 aircraft. The flight time is expected to be eight-and-a-half hours.

This will be the first route connecting western China and northern Europe, said Zhou Cai, an official with the municipality’s tourism bureau.
