Chongqing has approved the design plan of a new cable-stayed bridge across the Jialing River, a tributary of the Yangtze.

Hongyancun Jialing River Bridge will be a dual-use highway and railway bridge. Construction work will start in 2012 and should be completed in three years. The bridge will form part of the 8km-long Sanzongxian highway, which will run north-south in the city’s Dadukou district.
