Transport official in Jiangsu province announced recently that three cities – Nanjing, Nantong and Suzhou – will purchase a total of 3,000 new electric-powered buses and taxis within three years in a government drive to promote clean fuel. The central and provincial governments will provide subsidies for the new vehicles equivalent to half of the retail price, according to China News Services.
By 2015, the scheme will be rolled out to the cities of Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Yancheng and Zhenjiang.
