China Eastern invests in Wuhan subsidiary

11 April 2012
China Eastern Airlines will inject Rmb1.05bn into its Wuhan subsidiary, China Eastern Wuhan Airlines, to enhance its position in central China, reported Air Transport World. The Shanghai-based carrier said the Wuhan government, which owns 40 per cent of the joint venture, will invest an additional Rmb700m.

China Eastern Wuhan Airlines, formerly known as Wuhan Airlines, will add five aircraft with the investment, expanding its fleet to 50. It plans to transport 7m passengers and 70,000 tonnes in cargo traffic by 2015.

Over the next five years, it plans to add at least eight more international routes from Wuhan to countries elsewhere in Asian, starting with a service to Singapore on 19 April.
