UPM completes two new projects in Changshu

2 May 2012
UPM, the giant Finnish paper manufacturer, has recently completed the building of its Asia Pacific R&D centre and a new self-adhesive laminate factory in Changshu. An official opening ceremony was held in early April which attracted the attendance of the provincial governor of Jiangsu, UPM’s CEO and the ambassadors of both countries.

The new US$40m production facility will largely focus on the local market. UPM already has a paper mill in Changshu. Both plants will contain the most modern technology to be found in Asia, according to the company. The 200-hectare site occupied by the company also contains a private terminal where raw materials and finished products are transported via the Yangtze River.

UPM has so far invested US$1.2bn in Changshu, according to local media. One-third of all Finnish investments in China is concentrated in Jiangsu province, according to the governor.
