Jiangsu minimum wage now higher than Beijing

Jiangsu provincial government is to raise its minimum monthly wage to Rmb1,320 as of 1 July. This will place it ahead of Beijing, which has set its minimum wage at Rmb1,260. Beijing retains the top spot in the country when it comes to minimum hourly rate, at Rmb14, compared with Rmb13.1 in Tianjin, Rmb12.5 in Shanghai and Rmb10.5 in Chongqing.

Since the beginning of this year, 15 cities and provinces have increased their minimum wage. Shenzhen’s is set at Rmb1,500, the highest in the country. Of the four municipalities directly under the State Council, the minimum monthly wage is Rmb1,450 in Shanghai, Rmb1,310 in Tianjin, Rmb1,260 in Beijing and Rmb1,050 in Chongqing.
