Two die after ship capsizes in Zhenjiang

Two children died and seven others remained missing after a cargo ship capsized and sank on 11 July in the Yangtze River port of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province.

The accident happened at 2:25am, according to Zhenjiang Municipal Marine Safety Bureau. All 24 people on board fell into the water, and 17 were rescued, the bureau said, adding that two children died after failing to respond to medical treatment.

The ship was carrying more than 10,000 tonnes of iron ore. No collision was reported and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
