New central China railway to cut travel times to Germany

18 July 2012
The completion of the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway in 2015 will reduce the journey time of freight trains travelling between Lanzhou, Gansu province and Chongqing by two-thirds, or seven hours, reported Chongqing News.

Some 77.4bn is being invested in the project, which will cut the distance of the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway from 1,466km to 820km.

The new line will also help reduce the journey time between inland China and Germany to about 300 hours, said Zhu Youwen, chairman of China Railway Container Logistics.
